About Gigs First
Gigs First is a scheme for young people to create and organise events, the revenue of which will form a fund for music-based activities and equipment.
Designed as a cross-curricular programme aimed at 12-16yr olds at risk of exclusion the scheme will be delivered in Pupil Referral Units, Youth Offending Teams and secondary schools to provide a platform for the students. A pilot is being developed ready for launch in London.
The programme will develop communication, marketing, PR, budgeting, event and project management skills and encourage young people to think about the music industry as both a platform for showcasing talent but also developing entrepreneurial skills.
Funding the Programme
To raise funds to support the work of the Gigs First programme we hold quarterly live gigs in Central London.
Our next fundraiser takes place on 10th September 2010 in London.
